Please be Patient, and Check ALL these postings often. We are sorting out over 20,000 Screen captures representing thousands of research hours. The history of CNET/CBS Interactive promoting Piracy software is staggering. Over 1,000 different software offerings, Several hundred instances of mentioning copyright infringing uses, often with known copyrighted songs or famous band names. Although some of these pages are ten years old, you must remember that CNET has been distributing LimeWire software since at least February 2001.
We have substantial evidence going right up until the year 2011. Moreover, just since CBS bought CNET, they have distributed over 50,000,000 downloads of LimeWire alone! Over 250,000,000 downloads of LimeWire in Total.
Please, keep in mind as you review this evidence, "What was CNET's Intent?"

"Nothing but Bootleg
But most of your search results will be bootleg files stored on private computers using Scour Exchange. Take away the bootleg files, and Scour is just a second-rate directory to Web audio and video. Although Scour has made efforts to strike legitimate deals with music and movie companies such as Napster and MP3.com, it's currently being sued for copyright infringement. So don't get too attached--Scour, like Napster and MP3.com, could lose its best tools at any time."

PRESS RELEASE SENT OUT BY ZDNET
June 20 2000
Movie studios target Scour with copyright lawsuit
The Motion Picture Association of America sued Scour.net today, charging that the Web site has contributed to massive violations of the movie studios' copyrights--much as Napster has been charged in the record industry's case.
While the movie studios have weighed in on the record industry's suit against Napster, it's the first time they've filed their own lawsuit against a file-sharing company that allows movie trading online. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the National Music Publishers Association (NMPA) joined the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) in its suit.

DOJ concerns Shutters file Swapping Service Jan 22 2001 LAST MODIFIED
Napster is embroiled in a famous legal dispute brought by music companies that charge the file-swapping company is aiding the theft of copyrighted materials. Last year, Scour ran into legal woes in part after striking a deal with online storage company I-Drive.com. The movie industry feared that access to large amounts of storage would facilitate illegal film swapping, so Scour backed down and put limits on customers' storage capacity.

Well Scrubbed Business plan not enough for SCOUR
At the same time it was developing its Scour Exchange file-trading service, which allowed computer users to swap video and image files as well as music, other forces were pushing the movie industry into the same corner as the Recording Industry Association of America.
A series of underground hackers' innovations over the past few months made it easier to copy DVD movies and trade them online. Scour's technology inadvertently helped this along. The company struck an agreement with online storage company iDrive, allowing people to copy and store their files on that service. That proved a boon for movie traders, who needed a fast, stable connection to download and upload huge film files.
"Within a couple of days, you could feel the tide change," said Ray Santamaria, until recently vice president of business development and music initiatives at Scour. "All of a sudden, the labels were feeling more aggressive."
